Average Wii Sits on Shelf for Just an Hour

Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s president claims that the average Nintendo Wii is only a store shelf for an hour!!

“We are passionately upset about the lack of product relative to demand,” Fils-Aime told Wired., who hit the points that Nintendo has been reiterating all along about its runaway hit game machine: The production numbers are determined by Nintendo’s Japanese parent, and Nintendo of America does its best to remind Japan of the “missed opportunities” when it doesn’t have enough product to go around.

Don King’s Prizefighter — Wii LIke to FIGHT

Wii Sports introduced us all to Wii boxing…but it’s not enough is it?

And so far there hasn’t been a good boxing game on the Wii but that’s going to change in June of this year with 2K sports (that’s the same guys from Rockstar that do Grand Theft Auto) are puttin gout Don King’s Prizefighter…

If it can live up to the King hype…this will be one knockout of a game.

Wii is the top selling console in March 2008

Nintendo sold more high-end video game consoles in the U.S. in the month of March than Sony and Microsoft combined, according to a report released Friday by market researcher NPD Group.Nintendo sold 721,000 Wii consoles in March, according to NPD. Microsoft sold 262,000 Xbox 360 units while Sony sold 257,000 PlayStation 3 systems.

Nintendo Wii sales were sparked by the recent launch of the hit game Super Smash Bros. Brawl — a Wii exclusive. NPD said the game sold 2.7 million copies in March, making it the month’s top selling title by far.

Amazon Cuts the Price on Guitar Hero III for Wii

Guess what ? After only being out barely 5 months, you can know get Guitar Hero III (including the Wireless Guitar) for the Wii at discount pricing from Amazon (and yet it’s new). The new price? $74.99

The new pricing makes the Wii version the cheapest at Amazon among the major gaming platform.

If you’re lucky..you may be able to snag a used one on eBay for around $50, though that’s not the norm (and shipping isn’t a fixed as it is on eBay).

Nintendo’s Media Tour - New Wii titles on display

We’re still looking for the online vids of the stuff that Nintendo is showing this week at its media event.

Apparently they’ve got some tight embargoes on some of the stuff but this is what we know from multiple source:

The following games are being shown:

  • Wii - Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Boom Blox, de Blob, Samba de Amigo, Rock Band
  • WiiWare - World of Goo, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle: My Life As A King, Pop, Major League Eating: The Game, Lost Winds

Major League Eating The Game - Wii Like To Eat

The stuff you can get for a Wii…

Major League Eating is coming to the Wii in a few months and it looks like it’s going to be one fun little game.

No you won’t be able to buy it in stores…rather this is a WiiWare game that you get to download and buy online (kind of like the virtual console but this is just for new stuff).

As a boxed game…sure you might consider something like this shovelware…but considering that it’s likely to be dirt cheap..and dirty fun…why not?

Inside Mario Kart Wii - It Took 30 Prototypes to Get Right

When we all finally get our hands on a Mario Kart Wii Wheel this month, it will be the result of a lot of hard work by Nintendo.

According to a new interview up on Nintendo.com, there were some 30 different prototypes that Nintendo developed to finally figure out the ideal wheel.

I guess it’s not quite as easy as it looks….

Star Wars Force Unleashed - Wii version out Sep 17th!

The combination of a great new Star Wars story with revolutionary new technology and game play means more fun than you’ve ever had in the Star Wars universe,” said Peter Hirschmann, Vice-President of Product Development, LucasArts. “We can’t wait until gamers get their hands on it this September.”

$40 Million For Wii Fit Launch

ATTENTION: Fat Americans Who Watch too much TV, you’re about to be bombarded with a $40 million campaign for Wii Fit.

That’s right, Nintendo is spending alot of dough to make Wii Fit its biggest launch ever.

Considering that there are still Wii shortages all over the place — I would really hope that Nintendo does this launch right– by producing 1 Wii Fit unit for every Wii console sold.

The game is set to be released in the US on May 19.

Wii Like To Play — At The Westin

Wii travel alot, and the simple truth is that most business hotels are often the same.

But wouldn’t it be cool if you could choose a hotel just because they offered Free Wii Gaming?

Apparently that’s the plan for Starwood’s Westin hotel chain.

According to a post on Kotaku:

Westin Hotels & Resorts’ new Wii program will be completely free of charge to all hotel guests. This perk is the result of a groundbreaking partnership between Westin and Nintendo, details of which will be announced in the coming weeks.

This complimentary amenity will be yet another addition to the successful WestinWORKOUT program, which currently provides state-of-the-art equipment and workouts—including running maps, guided runs and mental exercises—free of charge to all hotel guests.
